Last night we had rain and thunderstorms in Lake Charles and the forecast was for rain this morning.
We started out with cloudy skies and took a picture of the cemetery here where all the graves are above ground. At 6 miles I got a flat on the rear tire with a piece of metal and we changed the tire, but it wouldn't hold air. Then the valve stem broke,so because we were so far back on a 83 mile day,the sag was called for me and Gail and our friend Helen kept on riding to the 20 mile sag stop. The van picked me up and I went into the hotel at Lafayette and fixed the tire myself with my last tube. Gail got a 40 mile bump, but completed 40 miles of constant turns and farm roads with a faster group as she gave her map to another rider. At that,Gail didn't get into the hotel until 5:00 pm. We have long days on this ride and tomorrow is a 92 mile day and then we get another day off in St. Francisville. We are going to try and FaceTime the bike club tomorrow after 8:00am and if we have no connection,we will do a video for them, just to show we are still alive and kicking.
Tonight's dinner is beef stew with a lot of red wine in the sauce, now that's my kind of cooking.
I forgot to tell you all that we are in the state where dogs can come out from the yards to chase you. We all have different ways of dealing with dogs from whistles, bells, yelling, and speeding away. Well goodnight until tomorrow.
