I think I missed one of my posting nights, sorry😔. So let me start with today. This was to be one of our long days, 96 miles! So we got an early start for our long day. First we had b'fst at the hotel then Carol, our guide/cook put out the snack table where we all make our snacks for the ride. We'll make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, then different types of food to keep us going. Maybe fig bars, cheeses, jelly beans, different nuts and a wide variety of protein type bars. With our camel backs, hydration packs and filled water bottles we're off. We have our cue sheets, which were discussed the night before, to give us directions in mileage and which way to turn. Of course, mistakes are made and adventures are found. We had a wonderful ride. The roads were mostly great, we were on country roads and the shoulders of state roads. One of our adventures was to cross a 3.5 mile bridge without a shoulder😨.
So our guides met us at the start of the bridge and escorted us over. There were 14 of us who rode in front of the van which had its blinkers on going at about 10 mph. That made the 3.5 seem like forever. But we were all safe. The weather was pleasant, a bit humid but not too hot. I just hope it can stay like this. We had the most exciting part of the day when crossing over the Great Mississippi! The bridge is about 2 years old and just beautiful.
Now we're at the B&B where we'll have our day off, it's just darling and so is the little town we're in.
Oh, today we got to face time with our Cycle Club! This is such fun for us. We love seeing everyone thanks to our special friend Linda. Thanx Linda!
